Judges

An independent panel from across financial services judge the Yorkshire Financial Awards every year

The judges receive, review and score your submissions for the categories being contested at the Yorkshire Financial Awards, to recognise the best organisations, teams and practitioners the region has to offer.

They will meet virtually around two weeks after the entry deadline to finalise the shortlist and confirm their winners.

The judges are always experienced professionals hailing from a variety of trade associations and institutes, ensuring that they’ll bring years of experience and expertise to the judging process while staying impartial.

They are chosen for their positions at organisations that represent financial services, have no financial ties with the Yorkshire Financial Awards, and must declare conflicts of interest and not participate in the judging of any categories where a conflict exists.

During the judging process, the judges must deliver a score for each submission considered. An average of all of the judges’ scores for each submission in that category is then taken, to come to a final determination that is as free as possible from biases.

Andrew Craddock CEO of Darlington Building Society, Pension Fund Trustee and an independent governor and Chair of the Audit Committee at Darlington College

Andrew has had a distinguished 40-year career in retail financial services with senior roles in Barclays Bank and Allied Irish Bank before joining the mutual sector. He led Buckinghamshire Building Society as CEO for 4 years before becoming CEO at Darlington Building Society for 7 years from 2018. Since standing down from his CEO role in April 2026 he has taken on a number of board and advisory roles including becoming a NED at the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, an independent governor and Chair of the Audit Committee at Darlington College, a senior Board Advisor at Ultimate Banking and an Ambassador for Wize Up Financial Education.

Andrew is a Chartered Fellow of the London Institute of Banking and Finance, a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership, and holds other qualifications in mortgage advice, change and Lean Six Sigma. Outside of work, Andrew lives in Northallerton, North Yorkshire, plays badminton for a local club, and enjoys walking, travelling and watching sport.

Dr Nii Lamptey Welbeck Lecturer at Leeds Beckett University, at the Leeds Business School, Accounting and Finance Department

Dr Nii Lamptey Welbeck is a lecturer in accounting and finance at Leeds Beckett University’s Leeds Business School. He teaches across business finance and management accounting and supervises postgraduate dissertations. Dr Welbeck holds a PhD in accounting and finance, with research focused on public sector finance, decentralisation and local economic development. Alongside his academic work, he brings professional experience from the financial services and public sectors, offering a strong practical perspective on finance, governance and service delivery.

Kevin Moore Executive Director, Membership & Business Development at CISI

Kevin Moore, Chartered FCSI, is Executive Director, Customer Experience at the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI), which he joined in 2007. Before taking on his current role at the institute, he led the global business development strategy. He is a regular international speaker on integrity, capacity building, wealth management and financial education.

Prior to joining the CISI, Kevin spent 21 years with the Lloyds Banking Group with roles in retail, corporate & private banking, culminating in leading its ultra-high-net-worth business in Mayfair. His wealth management career began though in Yorkshire, where he headed the private banking office in Leeds.

Kevin is a Chartered Fellow of the CISI, a qualified banker and a University of Liverpool graduate.
